Ghosts, goblins, witches and dolls line up for costume judging during last year’s first PumkinPalooza at the Viridian Event Center.

It’s time for the second annual PumpkinPalooza at the Viridian Event Center in West Jordan, 8030 South 1825 West. On Saturday, Oct. 25, the library will focus on all things pumpkin as it invites residents to come out from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and enjoy some free family fun.

Pumpkin decorating, a pumpkin pie eating contest and a pumpkin drop from the fire department’s ladder truck are just a few of the pumpkin-themed activities planned throughout the day. There will also be arts and crafts, a kids spook alley, a costume contest and a photo booth.

“Last year’s event was a big success. Halloween is such a fun time of year, and we thought it would be fun to celebrate the season,” Event Center Manager Tyler Curtis said. “The event center was built to be a community gathering spot, and people just love Halloween so much. It’s a great time to bring people together.”

The West Jordan Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the library to provide a vendor marketplace. Twenty-five businesses will participate in the event to provide fun Halloween games for the whole family.

“They’ll have interactive activities and trick-or-treating at all of the booths,” Curtis said.
