CHAIRMAN’S CORNER

I can’t believe there are just a few weeks left in 2014. This year seems to have gone by faster than ever. It seems that we were just barely meeting to plan 2014 a few months ago, not a whole year ago. As you know, the Board has been focused on strategic planning for the Chamber in the year 2014. We have had several planning sessions, met with a variety of consultants, and gathered input from our members in order to develop a strategic plan that will best meet the needs of not only our current members, but all West Jordan businesses, as well as providing long-term viability for the West Jordan Chamber. We are continuing our strategic planning later this month with our annual retreat. We welcome any ideas, suggestions, and comments you have for the future of YOUR chamber. Please contact any Board member and share your thoughts so that your voice can be heard as we plan for the upcoming year.

As many of you already know, Craig Dearing is no longer with the West Jordan Chamber. It seems hard to imagine a Chamber without Craig, and it is impossible to not see his influence, advice, mediation, support, encouragement or just plain friendship in any business in West Jordan. As much as Craig is an icon in West Jordan, I am sure we can all look forward to seeing him around as he continues to serve the West Jordan community. We, as a Board, thank Craig for his many years of service to the West Jordan Chamber and the community, and wish him well in his future endeavors. I personally thank him for his years of mentoring and friendship.

It is with great pleasure that the Board of Directors announce that Jevine Lane has accepted the position of President of the West Jordan Chamber of Commerce. Jevine Lane began her career in business with RE/MAX Associates as a real estate professional. She received the RE/MAX International Presidents Circle Award and became an active member of her local chamber of commerce. There she discovered a love for helping other business owners network and learn the value of educating to sell.

Jevine Lane

Adept in the field of business development and organizational leadership, Jevine has been dedicated to supporting Utah businesses. She worked for the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce both as Vice President & COO and again as Director of Programs and The Business Center. She served for many years on the Board of Directors for Women in Business and developed the Jr. WIB mentoring program for high schools girls looking to go into business.

Jevine has a head for business and a heart for people. She believes that reward comes from service and has shown this through her 16 year membership with Chambers of Commerce, Children’s Miracle Network and The Sandy Club, A Safe Place for Boys & Girls. She founded The Business Exchange, an organization that helps build sustainable businesses and successful people through education, resources and connections. Jevine serves yearly as a Best of State Judge, recognizing the best of local businesses.

She is happily married and enjoys spending time with her children and grandsons at their hockey games, gardening, traveling, yoga and good music.

We are excited to welcome Jevine to the Chamber and look forward to working with her to make the chamber even more relevant to West Jordan businesses, the city, and the community. Jevine has already been meeting with us and will be a key participant in our planning retreat this month. We are sure you will enjoy working with her as much as we have thus far.
