Hindus offer condolences on Mormon leader Packer’s death

Draper - Hindus have offered condolences on the death of Boyd Kenneth Packer, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), also known as Mormon Church, who died on July three in Salt Lake City. 

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, said that they were saddened by the passing of President Packer, 90, highly influential Mormon leader of his time, who authored many publications.

A very spiritual man with great inner strength, Packer was instrumental in making church scriptures more comprehensible and was a passionate and master teacher, an accomplished artist and had deep respect for nature and reverence for the ways of God; Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out.

The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest governing body in LDS after the First Presidency. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, LDS has over 15 million members worldwide.


UTGOP Statement on the Passing of President Boyd K. Packer

Packer," said Chairman James Evans. "President Packer was a champion of the family and his decades of service as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will have an indelible impact here in Utah and throughout the world. On this Independence Day, I want to especially honor President Packer for his military service and his commitment to defending our country's freedoms and way of life.

Salt Lake Chamber issues the following statement on the passing of President Boyd K. Packer

SALT LAKE CITY (July 3, 2015) – Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber, issued the following statement regarding the passing of President Boyd K. Packer.

“President Packer was a uniquely talented individual. He strengthened the spirituality of many within our community and inspired countless others to provide service to our state, our country and around the world.

“Deeply committed to his faith, President Packer provided a wonderful example of teaching and living measured principles.

“The Salt Lake Chamber and Utah’s business community extend our heartfelt condolences and support to the Packer family at this time. We’ve lost a strong leader. He will be deeply missed.”
