Carbmaster can't help you triumph over your love of carbohydrates but it can get your vehicle serviced and running its best. For more than two decades Carbmaster, at 8409 South Old Bingham Highway, has been doing what it does best -- fix carburetors and so much more. Owner Kelly Peterson originally opened Carbmaster to specialize in carburetor repair but as demand increased for other types of automotive repair, he too was willing to change gears.

All three of the Carbmaster's automotive service excellence technicians have more than 20 years of experience. They're certified to repair brakes, engines, transmissions, fuel injection systems, mufflers and to perform general tune-ups. Kelly says the only thing the shop is not equipped to handle is tire mounting and alignments.

Customers not only have access to knowledgeable technicians, they also get the peace of mind that they won't be taken for a ride. Kelly says he has built Carbmaster on honesty and there are still mechanic shops people can trust.

He recently had a customer come in who had previously been quoted $1,200 for a repair by another mechanic. Kelly gave her a quote for the same work for $850. However, when the customer brought in her vehicle, he found the car to merely have a tire issue. Kelly says there are mechanics known for making unnecessary repairs but that's not the way he does business.

"Honesty can make me a lot less money but I can sleep well at night," he says.

Kelly is also known to work around the clock to help out customers in a bind. He realizes his regular hours of operation don't always work for his customers. So he'll do whatever it takes to get his customers back on the road again.

"There have been nights where I have stayed until midnight for them and customers really appreciate that," he said.

For this reason, Carbmaster has truly built up a loyal customer base, both local and out of town. Kelly even has a customer from Nevada who will make the long drive for him to perform work.

"I'll go the extra mile for my customers so they're never left hanging. I think that's why people come back," he said.
