Valued Medical Care
A new trend that is sweeping the nation has come to Utah. Valued Medical Care, located at 9103 South 1300 West, Suite 103, West Jordan, offers a boutique style of medical care which allows its patients have more control.
Victor Cruz is the director of Valued Medical Care and says boutique style medical care gives patients more access to their doctor during exams and after hours. The clinic caters to patients without insurance or a policy with a high deductible.
"Insurance premiums are going up and companies are combating this by raising deductibles," Victor says. "Our clinic allows patients to be more in charge of their care and control the costs."
Boutique medicine was originally introduced in Chicago. For a flat fee, a doctor would be available to his patients 24/7 and spend more time with them, discussing concerns and deciphering lab findings.
Victor says this type of care is widely available in bigger cities like Chicago, New York and Los Angeles along with a hefty price tag. The concept of providing excellent support to patients resonated with Victor. So he developed a more affordable model that would fit with the lifestyle in Utah.
Individual Valued Medical Care patients pay a $39 monthly membership fee, which gives patients 24/7 phone support and the ability to be seen by a doctor with a $15 co-pay per visit. The clinic specializes in basic medical care for everyday medical issues. The co-pay gives patients access to basic medical attention which includes 20 basic labs such as strep cultures, preventative screenings like cholesterol testing and pap smears, asthma treatments, vaccinations and care for everyday minimal injuries. There's no hidden costs or bills for additional services; everything is included in the visit.
Outpatient services like colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures normally cost patients thousands of dollars. Valued Medical Care offers the same quality procedures at a fraction of the cost, saving patients hundreds of dollars.
Victor says his staff is equipped to handle basic medical needs but can't help all patients. Those requiring more specialized care are referred to other doctors outside of the clinic. For example, if someone comes in with a broken bone, the doctors at Valued Medical Care can set it, but if it requires a more advance procedure like surgery, they help the patients find the best doctor to care for break.
Patients of all ages are welcome at the clinic. Children being seen for well child check-ups receive their vaccinations at no additional cost.
The clinic can be reached at 801-208-2070 and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment on Sundays. Victor says they offer their patients the convenience of scheduled appointments but also treat walk-in customers as well.
Valued Medical Care also offers couple and family plans. A couple's membership is $75 each month; to add additional people is only $30 per person. There are no restrictions on who has a couple's policy; they could even be mother and daughter or siblings.
"This type of flexibility is another reason Valued Medical Care stands out," Victor says. "We treat patients with pre-existing conditions as well."
Victor says his staff spends time talking to new patients to understand what medical problems they are currently being treated for and the medication they are taking. Some patients with a previous medical history will need to either bring a copy of their medical records or have Valued Medical Care send for copies. Victor says vaccine history is especially important for children.
The monthly membership also give patients a personal and confidential online health record with links to reputable sites to help them learn more about their medical conditions and get the most up-to-date information on treatments. They can also update that record with previous medical information and vaccine dates upon request.
"We encourage new patients to come and see for themselves what Valued Medical Care and experience the difference," Victor says.
