Between Copper Hills and West Jordan High Schools, only two young ladies competed in the 2011 5-A state tournament on Oct. 6 and 8. The first day of the tournament was played at The Salt Lake Tennis Club and The Sports Mall in Murray. The day one match ups were moved from Liberty Park in Salt Lake City due to weather.

West Jordan’s Michalla Sanders, senior with a regular season record of 6-7, took 4th in Region 3 in 2nd singles. Sanders faced Brianna Turley of Davis High School at the Sports Mall. Turley defeated Sanders in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Turley went on to win the state title for 2nd singles, which ended at Liberty Park on Oct 8.

Copper Hills’ Tiffany Ostmark competed in the 3rd singles division at the Salt Lake Tennis Club on Oct. 6. Ostmark also lost to a Davis tennis player. Ostmark, who took 4th in Region 3 as well with a record of 5-8, was beaten by Emi Facer 6-0, 6-1.

Neither team placed in the state tournament, having been bounced from the first round.
