‘Echoes of Christmas’ production staged in Liberty Park
Peace Cradle Foundation, a Utah non-profit corporation, will present “Echoes of Christmas” in Salt Lake City’s Liberty Park Dec. 15-17 and 19-21. Weather permitting, each evening’s performance will begin at 7 p.m.
It is an outdoor reflection of the events leading up to the birth of Jesus in Betelehem, according to producer Virginia Beard. It involves interactions with a solitary shepherd boy, shepherds watching their flock, a high priest at the temple, wise men from the East, an inn keeper and his wife, Mary and Joseph, and a host of angels. Every five minutes, a group of guests will depart on a 40-minute walking tour of the show. Guests will rotate from one scene and musical presentation to the next, guided by volunteer shepherds bearing live torches.
“This complementary musical and theatrical gift to the community will remind guests of the origins of the holiday we celebrate as Christmas,” Baird said in a release. “The event is suitable for families, youth groups, civic groups, church groups, and other interested persons. It requires nearly 30 cast members with musical talents, another dozen or so with technical skills and experience, and about 20 ushers each evening.”
Guests are reminded to dress warm. A limited number of wheel chairs are available for those requiring this assistance. The musical score was commissioned and orchestrated specifically for this event. Performers sing live to track. Performers, crew, and management volunteer their time and talents to the production. Visit www.echoesofchristmas.com. for more information.
