Dr. Peter Silvero, MD
No one likes to be injured and often people ignore symptoms hoping the pain will eventually go away. But if your injury is causing problems, especially in the shoulder or elbow, it might be time to schedule an appointment with Dr. Peter Silvero, MD. Dr. Silvero specializes in all kinds of shoulder and elbow joint injuries and works to help his patients feel better soon.
“At some places, you might see a physician’s assistant or a doctor for two minutes, but I try to talk with [patients] to figure out the right thing to do for each patient,” Dr. Silvero says. “Patients are extremely pleased with the amount of time I take to hear their stories and figure out what’s going on.”
If someone suffers from rotator cuff injuries, shoulder impingement, bursitis, tendinitis, sprains, dislocations or breaks, Dr. Silvero uses his experience to create the best rehabilitation plan, or surgical procedure, to ensure healing and use.
Shoulder pain and stiffness are conditions that shouldn’t be ignored. If it hurts to raise the arm overhead or reach up behind the back, this could indicate a weakness in the shoulder muscles that might be corrected with specific exercises. And the longer treatment is put off, the harder it will be to increase mobility in that joint.
Many injuries can be treated with non-surgical procedures such as injections, therapy and medication. But if surgery is necessary, the procedures are minimally invasive and out-patient so no hospital stay is required.
“We do a thorough exam and then we decide how to proceed,” Dr. Silvero says. “We want to [analyze] the severity of the symptoms, improve motion and reduce pain.”
