Medical Center adds new technology

Jordan Valley Medical Center in West Jordan now offers CT scans that deliver significantly less radiation to patients than standard CT scans.

“Although previous CT scanners are safe, less radiation for patients is obviously better than more,” said Bryanie Swilley, CEO of the center. “Our priority is patient care, and if we can provide top-quality CT images while delivering less exposure to patients and staff, we will certainly do it. And that’s exactly what we’re doing with the Philips iDose.”

The Philips iDose CT (computed tomography) scanner at Jordan Valley benefits patients by creating detailed, 3-D cross-sectional images of certain parts of the body – such as soft tissues, the pelvis, blood vessels, the lungs, the brain, abdomen, and bones – which help physicians on the medical staff to diagnose illnesses and plan treatments.

According to the manufacturer, Philips iDose enables up to an 80 percent reduction in radiation dose while maintaining diagnostic image quality. iDose is designed to provide equivalent diagnostic image quality with the same look as full-dose images at a fraction of the dose.
