West Jordan lacrosse enjoys stellar season

Senior Mazie Hoy chipped in 27 goals and 7 assists for a West Jordan team that defeated Northridge 12-7 in its opening round playoff game. The Jags relished playing two home playoff games, something only guaranteed to the top four teams in the playoffs.
The West Jordan girls lacrosse team surrounds the Olympus player to recover the ball. The West Jordan players from left to right are Sadie Kevan, Betty Smith (21), Jordyn Hughes, Kassidy Wooley and Brooklynn Barton. The Jaguars enjoyed one of the best seasons in the program’s history as they went 16-3 on the year, earning the No. 6 seed in the 5A playoffs and reaching the quarterfinals where they fell to perennial power Olympus in a tight 12-9 game. In 19 games, their three losses came against Olympus, 5A No. 1 seed Park City and the 6A No. 2 seed Riverton.
Senior Lily Henderson was a points machine for the West Jordan girls lacrosse team racking up 142 points with 85 goals and 57 assists on the year. She was also a defensive force, leading the team in caused turnovers with 57. The Jags offense averaged over 15 goals per game with six players totaling double figures in goals.
