Opening Night December 3rd: 5:00-7:00 About Troy: My name is Troy Hunter, and I am a photographic artist with a unique specialty. I have what is called “Essential Tremors.” Some call it a disability; I have to disagree because it results in such beauty. Thanks to my formal training in architecture and my work experience in landscape design, I've had an artist's eye since a very young age. Although I once believed my condition was a hindrance, I never let that stop me from pursuing my goals. However, it was some time before I saw the gift that my tremors could be pertaining to my photography; in fact, I used to delete photos that I thought were “too blurry.” Once day, a simple photo of nighttime lights helped me think and see things differently. I decided to use the condition to my benefit, by framing a scene in my viewfinder and allowing my shaking to proceed naturally. I was happy to discover that my condition added an exciting element to photographic images—this is my greatest signature. I don't sign or name my pieces; by doing so, it would suggest that there is a top, bottom, left, or right side to the photograph. Different interpretations by viewers have suggested to not create this limitation. I love this living, organic element in my work; that the creative process does not stop once the photo is framed, but rather still stirs personally with each observer, allowing for these various interpretations. My work is primarily a process of capturing light images at night, as my condition does its best manipulation of light against a night sky. Be they lights, signs, or astronomical bodies—my tremors result in the creation of beauty in the abstract. My desire is to establish myself more fully as an artist by showing my works in galleries; which could command greater prices This would allow me to dedicate myself to my art on a more full-time basis. I truly love what I do, and firmly believe this work to be of great value, as it showcases beautiful art created through a condition once viewed as a hardship, now consciously turned into a beneficial tool and a gift. It is my dream and passion to share this gift with the world.
