Press Release submitted to City Journals

What:                    The University of Utah’s National Center for Veterans Studies, NCVS, and the Combat Veteran’s Motorcycle Association are hosting the second annual Ride to Zero event, a military suicide prevention fundraiser aimed at lowering the number of veteran suicides from 22 per day to zero. In addition to riding 70 miles through the valley, participants will have a photoshoot with their bikes, participate in a bike contest, see a classic car show and more.

The event was established in 2015 to support research and sponsor treatment for veterans through the NCVS. It raised more than $20,000 last year, which was used to conduct a survey assessing the most important risk factors for suicide and other mental health concerns among National Guard reserve personnel and their families, institute a peer support program, expand no-cost therapy to service members with PTSD and suicidal thoughts and more.

Who:                     Craig Bryan, executive director, University of Utah National Center for Veterans Studies, and Iraq War veteran

AnnaBelle Bryan, outreach and education director, University of Utah National Center for Veterans Studies
